All of those hours (not to mention dollars) you’ve spent in the early mornings and late evenings helping Kentucky’s children have paid off. And you thought no one was watching…

The journey ahead is challenging and rewarding. As Kentucky Teacher of the Year, I’ve talked Derby with President Obama, discussed NCLB with Secretary Duncan, and walked “on the moon” at Space Camp. But most significant has been the opportunity to learn new ways to improve my practice.

You will be asked to see yourself with new eyes—a tall order for reflective educators like you. Don’t worry. You can do it. Think about everything you’ve done that’s led you here.
